What makes you the best person for your job?
I was voted class wit when graduating high school and my friends, students and colleagues still think I am extremely fun to be with. Many of my original students from 30 years ago have enrolled their children and grandchildren in my school, which is the best publicity. I never miss a class, am always prepared, always present the material in an original way. As a translator, I always meet the deadline. My copyediting skills add an extra dimension to the finished product.
What is your best project so far? Why?
I recently completed a 45-page translation of an insurance policy. My copyediting "eagle eye" caught several mistakes in the original, for which the insurance company was most grateful.
There must be a reason why the British Consulate in the Algarve only accepts my translations.
My projects with EFL students over the years are too many to mention. The latest was bringing a small group to my house to follow a recipe in English. The brownies were delicious.
What do your students / customers say about you?
I've got former EFL students in many places of the world and they know they might not have got there without the English I taught them. The eye surgeon/professor at Umea Univ. in Sweden, the English teacher in Texas always come visit when they come back to Portugal, and always thank me. |
